Finding Your Dream Engineering Job

12-12-2021
Job seeker advice

We spend most of our lives working – finding a role that you enjoy helps to maintain a positive mind set when it comes to finding your dream role.

Understanding what you want from a role regardless of the salary package, inclusive facilities, and company benefits and rewards will prove more beneficial over time. Genuinely feeling happy within your role will help ensure longevity and career progression by staying motivated.

Finding your next career move can be a daunting task. Searching through various engineering roles can leave you confused and unsure of the next move you want to make. Perhaps you are already working within the engineering industry and feel obligated to stay within the same job role? We can help navigate you through the array of engineering roles nearest to you.

The Perfect Placement engineering recruitment consultants are capable of finding you your dream engineering role. Our engineering department has been placing candidates since 2019, and have a wealth of knowledge of many different engineering clients all over the UK. Our ever expanding network continues to grow daily.

Below we have some great tips to help YOU find your dream engineering job.

What criteria is top priority to you?

Wanting a large salary, inclusive tools and equipment, and a generous company is human nature but will this make you happy? Feeling obligated to work hard with a lack of passion can cause more bad than good. It is important to have a job that you are passionate about and are dedicated to succeed within. What drives you to succeed? What pushes you to perform extraordinarily? If you consider yourself to be an organised, level-headed, good communicator a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer may be the ideal route for you. On the other hand, if you are more technically minded and prefer a more hands on approach a CNC Miller or CNC Operator role may be more ideal. Focus on what elements keep you motivated and consistently performing to a high standard. Either way we are determined to find the best job for you!

Consider your skills and accreditations.

Do you have the relevant experience for the engineering job you want? Progression is important to show dedication within the engineering industry. Have you got the communication skills to become an Interim Team Leader within an FMCG environment? Implementing changes and communicating with various departments such as: Sales, Accounts, Logistics, and HR? This requires skills that can only be obtained from experience within the engineering industry. However, if you are new to the engineering industry and have some knowledge or experience of using manual machines such as: mills, grinders, or lathes. Your next step could be a Trainee Tool Maker / Machinist, this would build upon your skills and improve your opportunity for career progression. This could evolve your career towards a Workshop Manager or into Quality Control. Identify the skills you are aiming to acquire and the skills you have to find your next step.
