As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design models, loading raw materials into the CNC machine also inputting the product design into the computer modelling software. Keeping the working environment clean is very important as well as choosing the correct cutting tools for the job, your role also includes training new staff on machine operation procedures.
 
A CNC Programmer's requirements are; a high school diploma or GED, previous work experience as a CNC programmer, ability to read and interpret design blueprints, extensive experience with computer modelling software, ability to work independently and stick to a deadline, and should be able to lift heavy objects. They must ensure that they meet the criteria for a CNC Programmer. 

The role of a CNC Programmer offers potential growth to be a supervisor, also you could move to quality inspection or become an engineering technician. 

Typically, the hours for a CNC Programmer are 40hrs/Week on a set schedule, as a CNC Programmer, you are set targets and should meet them at the end of the week if they’re short-term targets or the end of the month if they are long term targets. Salaries range between £26,000-£30,000 per annum depending on experience.
