As a Maintenance Engineer, many responsibilities include; travelling to client locations for equipment inspection, inspecting equipment and conducting routine maintenance, servicing and replacing old or faulty equipment, proving technical support and training on new equipment as well as responding to customer call-outs.

Some requirements that are needed for a Maintenance Engineer role are; a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, proven work experience as a maintenance engineer, advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating systems, ability to work with heavy equipment as well as good communication and training skills. 

In the Maintenance Engineer role, you can progress to many different pathways such as, you could qualify to be an Engineer, mechanical, electrical or building services engineering, technical sales, maintenance team management, contract management or teaching in a further education college.
