Engineering Career Guide – CNC Turner

As a CNC Turner there are many responsibilities that need to done at the end of the workday, such as load and unload parts, programming and set up CNC to complete new product and different functions, change the tooling of the CNC machine. 

Some more duties are to observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micro-meter a dial calliper. 

Some of the skills and requirements for a CNC Turner are the following; Knowledge of CNC types, experience in this type of job role, knowledge of machinery tools, equipment and materials common to the role. Some skills for this job role would be good customer service, excellent attention to detail as well as time and task management skills.

Generally, a CNC Turner will work 42-44hrs/Week as well as offering overtime if needed. Salaries range between £23,000-£31,000 per annum depending on experience.
